Acting U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche and Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr., will be in Minneapolis on Thursday to announce a “significant” law enforcement action involving fraud in Minnesota.

A release Wednesday did not provide any other details about the coming announcement. Blanche and Kennedy will be joined by Minnesota’s U.S. Attorney Daniel Rosen, Mehmet Oz, the administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and others from the White House and FBI.

The announcement comes as federal prosecutors recently filed new fraud charges against a group of people accused of stealing millions of dollars from Minnesota’s housing and child care programs.

Aimee Bock, the mastermind of the Feeding Our Future fraud scandal, is also scheduled to be sentenced Thursday. Prosecutors are seeking a 50-year prison term, which, if imposed, would be the longest sentence of the 65 people convicted in the scheme, the largest pandemic-era fraud case in the U.S.

The Trump administration has continuously attacked Minnesota officials, including Gov. Tim Walz, for their handling of widespread fraud issues in the state’s social services programs.

During its most recent session, the Minnesota Legislature passed a range of policy changes to address fraud, including creating an independent office of inspector general.
